Can't Zip Up Those Boots? There's a Surgery for That

Some women are taking drastic measures to battle "boot bulge."

Autumn is here, which means it’s time to break out your boots for the next six months. But for some women, boot season (especially boot shopping) can be a total pain the calves. Yes, we're talking about the dreaded “boot bulge,” when your calves can’t squeeze into those tight-fitting, knee-high styles.
Well, some people are going to extremes to fit into their new riding boots. According toABC News, women across the country are getting liposuction on their calves, so they can fit into tall boots. "I'm a fairly fit person I always exercise. It wasn't an area I could fix on my own," one prospective patient told ABC.
But the procedure isn’t an easy one. If your large calves are mostly muscle (say, if you’re a runner or cyclist), you’re out of luck, since the procedure just removes fat. And if you do qualify, tough luck wearing boots this season because for some, recovery can take up to 10 months!
The Daily Mail adds that you’ll have to wear knee-high compression socks for at least two months, too, so there goes any hope for looking trendy this fall in tights and flats, too. Perhaps it’s best to just stick with ankle boots or some comfy Uggs.
