Habits that are Ruining Your Skin


If you are spending a great deal of money on skincare products and following grooming rituals religiously, and are still seeing no change in your appearance, then, chances are that you might actually be the victim of one of these unhealthy habits.

1) Tanning without sunscreen:
Sure, you know all about various skin diseases and cancer you can get from the sun’s UV rays, so, you’d think everyone would wear sunscreen before going out. But, the truth is that most men don’t apply sunscreen because they think they are the exception. No one is an exception! It doesn't matter that you don’t get sun burns or rashes; it still ruining your skin as well as giving long-term damage to your appearance.

2) Smoking:
We can’t stress enough on how harmful smoking is, both to your looks and your body. Every time you take a puff, you cause irreversible damage to your skin. They cause more long-term health hazards that we can keep track of. Among these hazards are premature ageing, wrinkles, damaged teeth and gums, thinner hair, Psoriasis, yellow nails and scaring. So, if you want to look young without investing in exorbitant skin creams, then quit this habit!

3) Overeating:
If you tend to fool yourself with the faulty logic of denial in order to indulge, you’ll notice the negative consequences in your appearance in the form of fat. Increased weight brings with itself a whole set of problems, that we are all aware of. Given that cravings are inevitable, but you have to be realistic about how often do your eat such calorie-inducing food and the amount of exercise that you’re getting.

4) Applying random products:
Most men don’t follow any skincare regimen. You use products that are available at that moment to wash your face, including soap bars and liquid wash containing harsh chemicals. These chemicals dry out the thin skin on your face resulting in ruining your skin. Therefore, it’s imperative to know your skin type (dry, oily or combination) and use products that are specifically formulated for your skin.

5) Going to sleep without washing face:
At the end of the day, it’s easy to fall asleep, exhausted. But, think of what you subject your face to, while doing that. Oil, dirt, grime and pollution  all collect on your skin during the course of the day. This may result in clogged pores, skin infections and eventually, breakouts. The gunk will also rub over the pillow and will ultimately come in contact with your eyes. Hence, washing your face should be as much a part of your before-bed habit as changing into night clothes.
