Turns out, strawberries may be a tasty way to lower your cholesterol, report Spanish and Italian researchers. They asked volunteers to make only one change: Eat about a pound of strawberries each day for a month. After 30 days, their total cholesterol dropped almost 9%, their LDL cholesterol (the bad kind) fell nearly 14%, and their triglyceride levels declined a whopping 21%, possibly thanks to health-boosting anthocyanins.
Don't worry if scarfing 15 to 25 strawberries a day (roughly what makes up a pound) sounds daunting: Last year, a Harvard study found that eating at least three one-cup servings a week can cut heart disease risk 34%.
