Makeup Tips for Busy Mamas

Makeup is art and your beautiful face is the canvas. But spend 30 minutes to “play” artist? Yeah, I know you don’t have time for that. So let’s simplify things..
1. Have a daily routine and stick to it.
Save the new products that you want to play with for when you have the time to be creative. Keep your staples nearby so that you know where everything is and you can grab them easily without having to search. Feel free to switch things up every few weeks, but for the most part I find sticking to the same mascara, eyeliner and blush easy and foolproof.
2. Wake up 10 minutes earlier than you need to.
I know, I know. It’s hard enough waking up ON TIME much less 10 minutes earlier. I get this, girlfriend. But trust me when I tell you that it is so much easier to deal with makeup application when you aren’t rushed. I always make an effort to do any skincare and makeup jobs before my babe wakes up. Once she gets up, all bets are probably off.
3. Adopt the LMGC Method (liner, mascara, gloss, concealer).
I made this up shortly after I had my daughter. I put the letters on my mirror to remind me. If nothing else, I have to at least apply eye liner, mascara, gloss and concealer. The liner and mascara really opens up the eyes, the gloss makes me feel like I’ve at least tried and the concealer helps put those dark spots at bay. And the good news? They can all take less than five minutes to apply!
4. Let the skin shine.
OK, so you’re a nursing mama who got four hours of sleep but yet you have to make an appearance at a meeting. There’s no way you have the energy or the desire to run a mascara wand through your lashes. No worries! Skip the makeup routine entirely and focus on your skin. Spend five minutes washing it, moisturizing it and topping it off with a tinted moisturizer, BB Cream or powder foundation. Add a bit of blush to your cheeks, conceal under the eyes and boom  you’ve achieved a fresh I got 8 hours of sleep look in a matter of minutes.
5. Keep everything in a small cosmetic bag.
If you find it easier to apply your makeup in transit or once you get to your location, buy yourself a nice little cosmetic bag. Keep all of your staples in that bag. This will make for easy toting whether you’ve got to apply at the breakfast table, at red lights, while on the train, in the carpool line or at your office.
