About Nail Trends In 2014-15

Over the course of 2014, many nail trends have arisen, the year started out with novelty polishes, enjoyed for their in addition to their color. ‘Crackling’ top-coats- which pull and bunch together as they dry, leaving a network of colorful lines and patterns under which any color of base coat could shine through- and magnetized nail polish were among the most popular of these polishes. During spring, however, soft pastels and corals replaced the edgier and more graphic tones. Shades of melon were the most popular hue. Summer brought bright statement colors and edgy geometric shapes. Throughout each season, a growing market of nail pens and techniques led to a rise in the popularity of nail art. Thin lines of polish allowed for the creation of intricate designs or patterns and small jewels could be glued onto the nail, adding both texture and a unique focal point or design.

Current 2014 Nail Trends
With fall quickly approaching, current nail trends are leaving behind the bright neon and of summer. Instead the focus is on darker, more subtle tones that coincide with the cooler weather and shorter days. Co lour combinations like greige-a blend of beige and grey-are becoming new staples. Trends include soft neutrals, jewel tones, nude shades, and metallic tones. Also popular are the traditional candy red and new, mulch-colored iridescent tones that vary in shade depending on lighting. Fashion trends for fall 2014 are leaning towards sixties inspired prints and clean lines with hints of androgyny. Other trends are leaning towards punk inspired post-apocalyptic fashion. Accordingly, nail trends are leaning towards simplistic less feminine hues, favoring dark tones over bright ones. Which keeps in line with the use of subdued hues.
