Smart Ways to Use Apple Cider Vinegar

We rounded up the best ways we could find to use apple cider vinegar and apple cider vinegar supplements:

Fat burner:
Adding apple cider vinegar to your diet can help speed up your metabolism and block fat absorption in the small intestine to help you lose weight. The acetic acid and pectin help to block this fat absorption while burning and flushing out fat and cholesterol already collected in the body. You can take it in supplement form or drink it. Dr.recommended adding two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to one cup of grapefruit juice with a touch of honey and drinking three times a day before meals.

Hair helper:
Applying the vinegar to the scalp can help prevent or treat dandruff. According to Dr yeast growth on the scalp due to a pH imbalance causes those unsightly flakes. You can mix one quarter cup of the vinegar with a quarter cup of water in a spray bottle. Spray the mixture on your hair and scalp and let it set for up to one hour (at least 15 minutes), with your hair wrapped in a towel. Doing this twice a week is a gentle treatment and the vinegar also adds body and shine. You can also try supplements to help from the inside out.

Sunburn soother:
When you overdue it in the sun, apple cider vinegar's antiseptic properties can help ease the pain, kill germs and prevent blistering later on. You can either mist yourself with the vinegar from a spray bottle, dab it onto your face with a cotton ball, add two cups to warm bath water and soak for 15 minutes or place a washcloth soaked in the vinegar to burned areas for 15 minutes at a time.

Acne fighter:
Who knew vinegar could be a beauty secret? Apple cider vinegar can be used three ways to help your skin. First, you can drink it (typically two tablespoons diluted with water up to three times a day), which naturally detoxifies the body and supplies vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to the skin. Or, you can also use it as a toner, applied with a cotton ball twice a day to clean skin to help remove dirt and excess oil on acne-prone skin. Taking a capsule is the third way to improve your skin as well, giving you all the nutrients found in apple cider vinegar in a convenient form.

Household cleaner:
Apple cider vinegar is a DIY-maven's favorite. You can use this stuff to clean away toilet rings (let soak overnight) and remove stains from carpet by mixing with baking soda. To make an all-purpose cleaner, dilute one half cup of apple cider vinegar with one cup water.

Teeth whitener:
Gargling with apple cider vinegar and swishing it around in your mouth allows the acid to break up the stains on your teeth to remove them gradually. Try this a couple of times a week (using acidic products on your teeth too often can damage the enamel and increase sensitivity). Just be sure to rinse after and, of course, brush normally.

Flea fighter:
No pet owner wants to see their cat or dog suffer from fleas -- or cover them with scary chemicals. You can dab apple cider vinegar directly onto their skin with a cotton ball or dilute it halfway with water and spray their fur and skin to fight off annoying critters like fleas.

Sore throat saver:
You can gargle the vinegar, diluted as much as you like, or mix it with hot water and drink throughout the day to help soothe the pain and irritation of a sore throat. The antiseptic qualities in the vinegar will help ease the infection and pain.
