Homemade Natural Oils For Hair Growth

It is very common to see ladies having long and thick hair and it is a beautiful sight to see them with flowers bedecking their long plaits. I have asked many of them as to what oil they use and invariably most of them said they used coconut oil or gingerly oil and washed their hair with shiaikai, the favorite natural herbal shampoo for women.

Herbal oil:
Herbal hair oil contains extracts herbal extracts which penetrate deep into the scalp and nourishes your hair roots.

If you use herbal oil there is no adverse side effects and the result is very good and immediate. Do not use scented oil as the harsh chemicals can do damage to your hair roots. Unscented oil is always a lot better and natural oil prepared at home is even better. You can use coconut oil, gingerly oil or olive oil for applying it daily in your hair and also for hair massage and hair growth.

Coconut oil with Curry Leaves:

Take 2 or 3 bunches of curry Leaves or Karuvepillai in tamil. Remove all the leaves from stem and wash them with water and allow them to dry in the shade so that there is no water content.After the leaves are dry grind the curry leaves to a paste .Pour a cup of pure coconut oil into a pan and heat the oil in low flame.After the two minutes add the curry leaves paste to the oil and boil for sometime till the green color of the paste become dark .Switch off the flame and allow to oil to cool .Filter the oil and pour into a desired bottle.Homemade herbal oil is ready

Oil Massage:

Whenever you want to use the oil take some oil sufficient for your hair and heat it in a pan or microwave it for 2-3 minutes and apply on your hair.Make sure the oil is not too hot and the heat is bearable for your hands and scalp.Apply the oil from scalp to roots and massage in circular directions .Wrap a hot towel around your head and stay for half an hour and wash off with home made shikkakai or shampoo

Note :
This is the local very old form of homemade hair oil recipe. You can definitely rely on it. And do not forget the fact that when you starts to follow a new method your hair and scalp may reject it. But do not worry. If repeatedly apply the oil it will become suitable for you.

Hibiscus Hair oil Recipe:

This is another homemade hair oil recipe. It is made with hibiscus leaves and flowers. Hibiscus is a wonderful plant product for hair. Hibiscus leaf is used as a natural shampoo conditioner.(Hibiscus Shampoo)The benefits of hibiscus can be utilized in the form of homemade hibiscus hair oil. This hair oil is used in India to help hair from dandruff and unnatural hair loss. Women in Kerala used this wonderful product to get thick long hair. But now due to lac of time etc. all go for store bought products.

Method to make homemade hibiscus hair oil:

For this you can use the leaves and flowers of this plant. All type of hibiscus can be used esp the red colored flowers. But the plant with thick leaves is better. The juicy and sticky leaves can give better result.

Get five flowers. You can use fresh as well one day old flowers. Take 3 fresh leaves also. chop these ingredients into small pieces. Using a mixer/grinder just crush it. No need to make it a paste. You can get 1/2 cup of it, accordingly add more flowers if needed. Then put this mix into a heating bowl or pan. Add 1 cup of your favorite oil which you uses on hair. May be you can choose coconut oil. Mix well. Heat it in low flame. Now when the fumes starts coming add three leaves of tulsi if you have. And add few grains of corn or rice or fenugreek (vendiyam in tamil)and see it pops up. At that time switch of the flame. Allow it to cool. Sieve the homemade hibiscus hair oil into a glass bottle.
Before bathing warm he oil and apply on hair and scalp and do a massage. Wait for 10 min. and take a bath. If you use this homemade hibiscus hair oil at least once in a week consistently that will hep your hair to grow well.
Tulsi Hair Oil Recipe:
The benefits of tulsi through hot oil treatment can help to avoid bumps on the scalp. It is used for itchy scalp. Some people may have hot scalp, sweaty scalp or scalp with hot boils. In these cases homemade tulsi hair oil will help you.

Tulsi leaves with coconut oil are the ingredients to make this hair oil. Fresh leaves of tulsi are good. But if fresh leaf is not available you can use tulsi powder. Get one or two bunches of tulsi leaves. That should make 10 tsp. of tulsi paste. Chop the leaves and put it in a mixer and crush it. Transfer the content from the mixer to a heating bowl. Add 1/2 cup coconut oil. Mix well and start to heat in a low flame. When fumes starts to come just add few grains of corn or fenugreek. When the grains pops up switch off the flame. Allow the oil to cool. Then sieve the oil into a proper container.

When you want to use this homemade tulsi hair oil, just warm it and apply on entire hair. Give simple massage on the scalp. After 25 min. you can take bath. If you have extreme dry hair do this twice in a week. Or apply this homemade tulsi hair oil once in a week

Amla hair oil Recipe:
Amla hair oil is very famous and it is available in Ayurvedic stores. It has been proven to help hair growth. Homemade amla hair oil that you prepare will have all the full quality of amla and the result will be faster. It will reduce hair loss and will pre-condition your hair against dandruff or other fungal infection on hair. If you use this homemade amla hair oil consistently, definitely it will help your hair growth.

Amla or Indian gooseberry  is a deciduous tree of the Euphorbiaceae family. It is known for its edible fruit of the same name. It is used in Ayurvedic medicines. Locally the crush of this fruit is used in hair treatment in India. Whatever hair treatment we make out of this Gooseberry is very effective in controlling hairloss and helping hair growth. Homemade shampoo using amla powder is found to be very effective in controlling hair loss.

Homemade Amla Hair Oil:
Method to prepare homemade amla hair oil
The main ingredient is amla powder. Amla powder is available in stores or it can be purchased online. But if you have fresh amla, then cut it into small pieces and dry it. You can use this instead of amla powder.

Mix amla and fenugreek powder. Add a little coconut oil and make it a paste as we are going to prepare homemade amla hair oil using coconut oil as a base. If you want you can use your favorite oil you used to apply on hair. If you took 2tsp. amla and 1tsp. fenugreek then now add one cup coconut oil and mix well in a heating pan. Heat in a low flame. Watch fumes comming out. f  the amla paste content becomes brown then stop heating. Do not allow the amla paste to get black. Allow the oil to cool down. Sieve it and pour into a glass bottle.

You can keep it minimum for two weeks. Do not refrigerate. When you want to use it just warm this oil and apply on hair. Do a light massage. Wait for 10-15 min. and then you can take a bath. The quantity you apply on hair you can decide. If you are comfortable using oils then apply more oil. But after this do not use shampoo, use green gram/shikakkai powder. But if you are not comfortable with oil and if you are using hair oil first time then use a very little oil. After 10 min. while taking bath you can wash off excess oil using green gram powder. Apply this homemade amla hair oil twice or thrice a week or at least once in a week.

Brahmi Hair Oil Recipe:
Hot oil treatment on hair is a weekly routine that will help the total health of your hair. A homemade hair oil recipe is explained below. Brahmi is a medicinal plant which is a known memory enhancer. The leaf of brahmi was used from olden days to enhance hair growth.

Homemade Hair oil with Brahmi
Choose an oil to prepare. Take one cup oil say coconut oil in a heating pan or pot. Now add brahmi powder 5 to 10 tsp. Mix it with oil. Now you can start heating the oil in low flame. When it starts to fume just put few grains of fenugreek to the hot oil and watch the fenugreek pops up, at this point switch off flame. Don't allow the brahmi paste to become too dark or black, before that just switch off the flame. Allow it to cool. Then sieve the oil into a glass or ceramic bottle. Your hair growth enhancer-homemade brahmi hair oil is ready.

Whenever you want to use oil on your hair just take few tsp. of homemade brahmi hair oil and heat it. Apply the warm oil on hair and do simple massage. Leave it for another ten or fifteen min. Then take a bath. This you can repeat weekly. But if you have dry hair apply homemade brahmi hair oil once on other day. If you consistently do this for several weeks definitely this homemade brahmi hair oil will help your hair grow thick.


Recipe for Hair oil with Coconut Milk:
This is a very special hair oil recipe. It was widely used to help hair growth in Kerala. This hair oil with coconut milk is having a very tactical kind of preparation. In early times this was prepared by specially trained persons who make all kind of Ayurvedic preparations.

The first challenge in preparing this hair oil is finding the best type of coconut. The coconut we select should be fully ripe and dried. In this condition the water content in the coconut will be almost removed. And we can get more oil from that in tamil we call it kopparai thengai. We select the ripe coconut so that we can keep this prepared hair oil for long time. This hair oil with coconut milk helps hair to grow well and can avoid unnecessary hair loss. Definitely we can forget about the problem of dandruff etc.

Method to prepare hair oil with coconut milk:
Ingredients:
Coconut oil- 1 cup
Coconut milk- 1 cup
Brahmi powder- 5tsp.
Aloe vera- 2tsp.
Tulsi leaf paste- 1tsp.

Grate coconut and using a mixer/grinder crush it. Then squeeze the milk. Brahmi powder you can buy. Use fresh aloe vera. Squeeze the inner crux or you can use with the skin but cut into small pieces. If you have tulsi leaves make it a paste or buy tulsi powder.

Mix brahmi powder, aloe vera and tulsi paste. Add coconut milk and mix well. Now add coconut oil and mix together. Start to heat it in low flame. Stir with a long spoon. When the fumes starts to come add few grains of rice or fenugreek or corn and see it pops up. This is the proper time to switch off the flame. Take care to not getting the contents too dark or do not allow to burn. When it cools down sieve it and pour into a suitable glass bottle or ceramic container.

Apply this hair oil with coconut milk once in a week basis. First loosen your hair, take out all the knots with fingers moving from top to ends. Spread well all the strands. Apply the hair oil all over hair and scalp. Give a thorough massage. Special attention for doing rubbing on scalp in a rounded motion. Do not scratch with finger nails. No need to apply excess oil, keep an average quantity to apply. Wait for half an hour. Then take bath. If you want wash out excess oil by washing hair with green gram flour or pachai payaru mavu in tamil

If you are applying oil for the first time, apply this hair oil with coconut milk very little at the first time. Then repeat it after three days. Similarly do it three times minimum. Then only your hair and scalp will become used to the new product. First time application may cause a temporary hair loss. Don't worry, continue applying.

Each strand of our hair goes through three stages in its entire life cycle:
The Anagen stage:
A phase when the growth in hair is actually seen. The follicle divides and contributes to the lengthening.
The Catagen stage:
This is more of a transitional phase. Here the hair growth stops and the shaft of the hair is pushed up closer to the surface as the follicle shrinks.
The Telogen phase:
This is the resting phase which lasts for about 2-4 months. Once this phase is over, the hair sheds on its own accord.

These cycles are very much active like every other body functions when we are young. The problem starts during the middle age, around 30 years or more. Our hair growth starts slowing down due to the hormonal imbalances, improper diet and excessive stress.

Home Remedies For Hair Growth:
So how to grow new hair naturally? There are many advantages of going natural with hair care. The most important being the fact that it works and it is inexpensive. It’s like having the cake and the cherry at the same time!

Effective Home Remedies for Hair Growth:
1. Onion Juice:

For 1 litre of solution – mix 75ml of apple cider vinegar to one litre of water
You may store this entirely or make it smaller batches.
For smaller quantities, take 15 ml of apple cider vinegar and add it to a cup of warm filtered water
After washing your hair, using this cup of water as the final rinse.

3. Egg Mask:
This home remedy is found to be a part of the many cultures all over the world with different variations.Why?
It contains high levels of proteins which help in the formation of new hair. It is also rich insulphur, zinc, iron, selenium, phosphorous and iodine.

How To Use:
Take the white of one egg
Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and honey to it
Mix it all well to form a smooth paste
Apply it all over your hair carefully and leave it for 20 minutes
Rinse with cool water and shampoo it off.

4. Fenugreek:

Take 1 teaspoon of the fenugreek paste

5. Potato Juice:

You may look attractive for a few days by applying a hair styling product, but you never know how it affects the condition of your hair and scalp in the long term. Therefore, you should try to minimize the application of harmful styling products like hair colors, serums, and straighteners.
